ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Dear Atlanta Archery Club Families & Archers,
One of our primary goals is for our archers to grow their skills and see they are strong and shoot straight.
Atlanta Archery is excited to announce our first club tournament to give the archers an experience in competition. Participating in competition helps archers grow in several ways, like being calm under pressure and understanding how an archery competition flows.
Because this is a first-time competition, we want all archers set up for success while stretching them a little. Therefore, Coach Yale and Michelle will assign your archer to the competition distance based on their experience and skill and not their age. This practice differs from a typical USA Archery event where all archers are assigned an age-related division, regardless of demonstrated mastery.
Below is the schedule of how the day will flow and a description of the event.

Registration Fee: Use an Atlanta Archery Club Pass as the entry fee (this event is included if you have a monthly range pass package)

Check-in & Equipment Inspection: 9:00am - 9:30am
Official Practice (minimum 2 ends): 9:30 am - 9:55 am
First Round will begin at 10:00 am

FORMAT OF COMPETITION
The 900 Round is a Target Round (i.e. not a Field Archery Round) meaning an archer shoots at only one target for the entire round and shoots from level ground. Multiple archers will shoot at the same 122cm target during a 900 Round.
A 900 Round consists of 5 ends of 6 arrows shot at three different distances for a total of 90 arrows at a standard 122cm 10-ring target: (5 ends x 6 arrows = 30 arrows) x 3 distances = 90 arrows.
There is a 3-minute time limit for each end — which is plenty of time to shoot slowly with proper control. There’s no need to rush.
The Archers will be assigned distances based on their experience level on the day of the event:
Experienced Level 4: 30 Meters, 25 Meters, 20 Meters
Experience Level 3: 22 Meters, 18 Meters, 15 Meters
Experience Level 2: 15 Meters, 13 Meters, 10 Meters
Experience Level 1: 10 Meters, 8 Meters, 5 Meters
A perfect score of 90 arrows all hitting the 10-ring would be 900 points.
Standard archery whistle commands are used to signal the start and end of the shooting time. Disobeying the whistle commands can result in disqualification, and a zero for your score, so stay safe.
Whistle Commands:
Two Blasts — "Archers to the shooting line."
One Blast — "Range is Hot - Begin shooting."
Three Blasts — "Range is Cold - Walk forward and get your arrows."
Four or More Blasts (series of blasts) — “STOP SHOOTING Immediately and put your arrows in your quiver
ABOUT THE TARGET
Olympic-style 1-ring target.
The target face for the 900 Round is a 5 color FITA (FITA round, in the sport of archery, a form of target shooting competition used in international and world championship events, authorized by the Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc (FITA) ) At all three distances, this target will be 122cm in diameter.
SCORING
Scoring
For scoring, each ring from the outside is worth one additional point, except the innermost gold ring. This means that the rings are worth:
White 1 & 2 Points
Black 3 & 4 Points
Blue 5 & 6 Points
Red 7 & 8 Points
Gold 9 & 10 Points
There are some peculiarities with the innermost gold ring (called the “X” ring). “X”s or Spiders, as they as sometimes called, are used for tie-breaking purposes. It is written on the scorecard as “X”, and is counted as 10 points. If two competing archers attain the same score at the end of the tournament, the victor is decided by who has more “X”s.
Additionally, scorecards must be filled out correctly, completely, and legibly including name, bow category, age division, scores, totals, and be signed by 3 individual archers (2 scorekeepers and a witness) any one of which can be the archer to whom the scorecard belongs (Parent volunteers requested for younger archers).
